2008 Season

The 2008 Cross Country season was about as successful as any in the history of Jordan-Elbridge Cross Country.  Just missing a league title in a 26 - 29 loss to rival Marcellus, J-E went on to a Section III Co-Championship in an improbable tie with Holland Patent.  Despite H.P. advancing to the States, the Eagles were declared co-Champs and celebrated another sectional championship.

Junior Cody Stanton was the individual section III class C champ (16.32), blitzing the strong field and winning the championship by 19 seconds.  Mike Marrero was 4th overall (16.55), followed by Greg Bader who was 11th at Sectionals (17.42), freshman Steve Slonosky was next in 16th place (17.53), and Tom Poppe was the Eagles' 5th scorer in 31st (18.24).

Stanton was 5th overall in the New York State Championships (17.10) followed closely by Marrero who was 13th (17.29).  This was the 2nd year in a row that J-E sent two individuals to the N.Y. State Championships.

Stanton was the team MVP, with Kyle Becker receiving the Most Improved Award, Mike Marrero won the Coaches Award, Greg Bader won the Leadership Award, Tom Badman picked up the Workhorse Award, Tom Poppe won the 5th Man Award, and Steve Slonosky was the Rookie of the Year.

J-E had four all league runners in 08.  Cody Stanton and Mike Marrero were first team All Liberty and All OHSL.  Greg Bader and Steve Slonosky were 2nd team All Liberty.

J-E finished 3rd in the final state ranking only behind state champion Newark Valley and runner up Holland Patent.  H.P. lost the state title by a single point.

After a brisk run to the "sign", the Eagles were more than glad to pose for this historic photo.

Eagle Pyramid Squad

The Eagles took some needed 'time out' from the intense preparation for the Sectionals.  It took several attempts to hold this position, thus convincing the squad to not join the circus to be acrobats.

Section III Class C Champion Cody Stanton

J-E's Cody Stanton raises his arms as he wins the Section III, Class C Championship at Jamesville Beach State Park.  Stanton was only the 2nd boy in J-E history to win a sectional crown.
